To qualify for the award, all Mazda models had to undergo a rigorous evaluation that looked specifically at six crash tests administered by the IIHS, including:
- Moderate Overlap Front
- Driver-Side Small Overlap Front
- Passenger-Side Small Overlap Front
- Side
- Roof Strength
- Head Restraint
According to Mazda's American Operations President and CEO Jeff Guyton, Mazda is committed to going the extra mile to ensure that its owners receive the safety and protection they expect from such a reputable automotive brand.
